Dear Friend of Public Architecture:

Design is increasingly being called upon to envision and create a more sustainable future.

Public Architecture is at the forefront of this movement, mobilizing the design community to generate environmentally and socially sustainable design in service of the public good.

We hope you will make a donation today to support this important work.

Throughout the past year, Public Architecture has significantly expanded "The 1%" pro bono design program as well as advanced our public interest design projects.

More specifically, we have:
    Recruited more than 250 architecture and design firms from across the country to join The 1% program, pledging over 100,000 hours and an estimated $10,000,000 in pro bono services to communities in need;

    Launched a first-of-its-kind matching website, connecting nonprofit organizations in need of design assistance with firms and professionals willing to donate their time;

    Published The 1% User's Guide, a primer on the concepts and benefits of pro bono design, addressing both the designer and client sides of the pro bono relationship;

    Exhibited our Day Labor Station project at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York and consulted with several municipalities interested in bringing innovative design and advocacy solutions to their communities; and

    Co-sponsored Park(ing) Day 2007, which involved designers and everyday citizens in over 180 cities worldwide and demonstrated how re-imagining the urban streetscape can foster new opportunities for open space and social interaction.

With your support, we are poised to build on these successes in the coming year. Through The 1% program, we will facilitate and foster productive relationships between willing firms and nonprofits in need. We will also expand the impact of our design projects by transforming them into advocacy and design campaigns in an effort to influence long-term change. On both fronts, we will increase the quantity and quality of public interest design in places where it's desperately needed--and where it can make a lasting impact.

We hope you will make a donation today to support this important work.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and your support of Public Architecture.
